“Fantastic place to stay (seven of us in total) while we visited family in nearby Cambridge, NY. The owner was incredibly friendly and proactively checked on us to make sure we didn’t need anything. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of dishes and equipment to make cooking meals at home easy to do. Easy to get to the stores we needed and bring groceries into the house. The back porch (entrance) was enjoyable as well when the weather permitted us to sit outside and relax. Really enjoyed...

“OMG - this place is fantastic. An oasis of peace and quiet yet close to so many things - Albany Rep for theatre, 38 mins away, Saratoga - 38 min away, Bennington museums - 38 min away. Manchester VT - 38 min away. This house is so impeccably appointed and comfortable, you want for nothing. Add in the "see to the horizon" sight lines out your bedroom window and you know you are in heaven. You know the host cares for your comfort - she has even added a bit of magic to your stay”

“The entire hotel stinks we couldn’t sleep with the odor to cigarette bathroom smelling like pee poor cleaning all over, I can’t even stay in the lobby smell was just terrible i think is a good hotel just need a better cleaning price was also very fair”

“This property needs to be removed from the Expedia site. The photographs that it shows must’ve been taken about 50 years ago. The property is completely dilapidated and it looks as if it is possibly a halfway house for alcohol and drug abusers.”

“South Shire is a quaint Victorian Inn on Elm Street within walking distance to the center of Bennington, VT. The Inn has a family feel and elegance. We traveled as a couple. It was easy to get to sites and enjoy fine restaurants. The Inn is in keeping with the feel of strength of the Bennington community, as a place for artists, musicians, and people's expression generally to thrive. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend South Shire.”
